The Washington Freedom Operations Department is looking for highly motivated, detailed oriented college students who are organized and able to work effectively with others. Our interns are given a great deal of responsibility while covering a wide variety of the Washington Freedom team and business duties. This would be a great opportunity to learn about event management and event presentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Freedom staff with pre-game, in-game, halftime, and post game events;
- Perform a variety of on-site duties on game day;
- Assist the Director of Operations with the creation of timelines, scripts, itineraries, and checklists prior to an event or game day
- Serve as the visiting team liaison
- Help coordinate with sales, sponsorship, media and marketing departments to ensure that all requirements for day of game set-up, giveaways, signage, and so forth are met
- Have regular contact with parking, security, field crew, and guest services
- Work closely with professional sports operations department in all aspects of operations including distribution of equipment, set-up, accreditation processes, and inventory control.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will:
- Be well-organized, enthusiastic, focused, professional, mature, goal-oriented and committed to the sports industry and growth and success of team
- Work quickly and accurately under pressure, handling problems in an efficient and timely manner
- Possess strong verbal and organizational skills
- Be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as the event schedule commands
- Should be able to lift 40lbs without restraint

Summary: The Washington Freedom seeks an energetic, motivated and professional individual to market and sell full season and partial season ticket plans through outbound phone sales activities, meeting appointments, and promotional events.
Reports to: Director of Ticket Sales
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Sell full-seasons, partial plans, and various group ticket products of Washington Freedom
Create and develop new business through outbound calls, event appearances, and community outreach
Manage all personal sales accounts and work with service representatives to provide high levels of customer service
Attend promotional and community events to increase and drive sales
Maintain accurate records of all prospecting activities and closed sales in ticketing database
Assist the game day responsibilities of sales department
Accountable for reaching defined sales goals
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required with 1-2 years of sports ticket sales experience
Ability to communicate effectively with the public in a friendly and professional manner
High energy; ability to remain focused on sales goals and work independently
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
Experience with ticketing systems a plus, as well as experience with the Microsoft Office suite
Compensation:

Washington Freedom is seeking an enthusiastic Street Team and Game Day Activities Intern to provide management and support of the Washington Freedom street team program. This individual will demonstrate the ability to organize, set up and run Washington Freedom street teams while exercising strong organization and communication skills. Street teams will be implemented both on non-game days and in stadium during home games.
Internship Responsibilities:
• Email/Phone Management – Outreach to enthusiastic Freedom fans to join the Washington Freedom street team community
• Records Management – Fulfill necessary documentation to track street team activities and monitor effectiveness based on event and materials used
• Event Management – Develop and implement street teams at events and locations that correspond with the overall goals of the program
• Game-Day – Assist in the development and execution of in-stadium activities both during the game and at half time

Washington Freedom is seeking a Grassroots Marketing Intern to provide hands on support in the planning and execution stages of the Grassroots Marketing Department. Intern will report directly to the Grassroots Marketing and Media Manager for all duties and must demonstrate strong organization and communication skills.
Internship Responsibilities:
• Email/Phone management – Assist with email and phone calls that will ultimately build out event elements and assist the department in execution
• Records Management – Fulfill necessary event documentation and evaluation, including inventory tracking of all materials used at events
• Event Planning – Assist in the planning stages of implementing staff and materials at select locations with a focus on youth soccer tournaments and leagues

The Washington Freedom is actively recruiting internship candidates for the 2010 season.
The Washington Freedom internship program offers college students the opportunity to take the first step into the sporting industry. Internships with the Freedom are unpaid, but provide valuable training experience for students. Interns must be enrolled at an accredited four or five-year college or university leading to a bachelor or advanced degree and must receive college/university credit for their internship. The student must be able to provide proof of his or her college/university credit prior to starting their internship. Internships are part-time based on student availability and department needs.
It is our goal to select the best students for its internship program. The Freedom accepts both undergraduate and graduate students into this program. Students are eligible for an internship after completing his or her freshman year, however, most of our interns are at the junior level or above.

The Washington Freedom, a new franchise in Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) seeks a passionate, highly motivated intern for the Sponsorship Sales & Servicing team. This position is responsible for supporting the Sponsorship Sales & Servicing team with all aspects of the Washington Freedom’s sponsorship activities. This includes but is not limited to, sponsorship customer service, relationship building, contract execution, contract fulfillment and new sponsorship sales.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the SVP of Sales & Marketing and the Corporate Partnerships Coordinator to support all sponsorship activities such as:
o Contract execution and fulfillment
o Event activation
